Specifically, design for people who interact with the world in diverse ways (e.g. people with colour blindness, dyslexia, ADHD, dyscalculia).

Orange and blue are colours that are almost universally seen the same way, regardless of colour blindness.
Research has found that when cream and dark brown colours were used for dark text on a light background, the recognition of words in dyslexic people was much quicker.
